Scuba Instruction

The beginner scuba diving course is divided into three different sections: Academics, Confined Water and Open Water. The instructors at Delta Divers will lead you through the three sections on a schedule that is convenient to you.

Academics

After enrolling, you will receive your academic packet which includes the course textbook, workbook and other learning materials. You will take the academic materials home with you and study at your own pace. Once you have completed the study of the textbook and passed the written exam, you are ready to begin Confined Water. As a bonus, if the book and DVD are returned, we will deduct $25.00 off of the Confined Water fee.

Confined Water

This training portion is conducted poolside. During this session, we will explain the diving equipment, how it works, the fuctions of each part and help you become familiar with the equipment. Then, in the pool, we will teach you all the basic snorkel and scuba skills you will need to be a safe scuba diver, starting with how to safely enter the water with your equipment and how to safely share air with your dive buddy.

Open Water

The last part of the beginner course requires the student to make four dives over a two-day period of time. We normally do our Open Water dives at Tenkiller Lake, Lake Murray, Elmer Thomas Lake or Delta Lake. We have dive platforms set up specifically for our Open Water students. During the first dives, the student will be required to demonstrate mastery of the basic scuba skills learned during the Confined Water portion.

Once basic skills are displayed, the student will focus on actual diving. Tours will be laid out where the student will learn to do elementary navigation and hone buoyancy skills. On the final dive, you will be led by one of our instructors or dive masters on a real dive, exploring the area. After completion of the Open Water portion, the student is certified to be an open water scuba diver.
